Watch Olympian Gabby Douglas and 735 Gymnasts Break a Guinness World Record

The gold medalist and friends broke the record for most simultaneous cartwheels on the Clemente Bridge.

If you happened to be driving into the city on Monday afternoon, it must have felt like quite a hallucinatory experience to see 700-some people randomly cartwheeling across the Clemente Bridge.

It was far from random. Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas and 14 youth gymnastics organizations from across the region teamed up to break the Guinness World Record for most simultaneous cartwheels. The gang smashed the previous record of 482 set in The Netherlands in 2009.

Eat it, Dutch.

The event also served as hype for the upcoming USA Gymnastics National Championships, Aug. 21-24 at Consol Energy Center. Fun!

Unofficially, the 700 young girls in attendance also attempted to set the record for most selfies with an Olympic icon. Douglas’ composure in the above video is more impressive than her performance at the 2012 Summer Games.
