Watch: Brit Falls in Love, Then Falls in Love With Pittsburgh
Jack Holden fell for a girl while teaching in Rome, then he fell for her hometown.
This is simultaneously a beautiful, sincere tribute to Pittsburgh and one of the greatest video resumes of all time. Somebody out there: please get Jack Holden a job in Pittsburgh so he can stay with his (two) loves. Don't make him go back to England. That place is weird.
#Joy: 97-year-old artist paints one pixel at a time
We’ve been giving the state of Ohio a hard time on this blog. We still feel a bit bad about the Google search results for Cincinnati and Cleveland. So it is with much relief that we present the story of 97-year-old Hal Lasko, a nearly blind grandfather from Ohio who works up to 10 hours per day in Microsoft Paint.
By using extreme zoom, Lasko is able to create paintings that are a blend of pointillism and 8-bit art. Anyone who has ever played Super Nintendo will instantly feel a twinge in their heart when they see his works.
You can even buy prints online for $98 in celebration of Lasko’s upcoming 98th birthday.
