Urban Haven Atop Mount Washington

These townhomes have all the perks of living in the city without all the commotion.

Tucked away on a private road atop Mount Washington are three townhomes with all the expected perks — and none of the commotion. “I like being at the end of the road, with no traffic,” says owner Jeff Smith. Special touches in his home (pictured here) include a wire-railed staircase and a raised bed platform in the master suite. The unit next door is currently listed for $729,000, and the new owner will pick fixtures and flooring — maybe even an elevator.

But fine faucets and chic hardwood can’t rival the most stunning asset of these homes: the view of the city from nearly every room.  “I really was drawn in by the open feel with the skyline — it took my breath away. Anyone who visits at night feels the same,” says Smith of the view from Bigbee Street. “And I can get downtown in five minutes. It’s just unreal.”
