Big news for soccer fans — which began with this tweet Wednesday from Pine-Richland’s Meghan Klingenberg: The U.S. Women’s National Team will play its first post-Women’s World Cup match at Heinz Field.
The U.S. Women will take on Costa Rica at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16.
The game will mark the team’s second appearance at Heinz Field. The U.S. women defeated Iceland 3-0 in 2004, following the team’s Olympic gold-medal run in Greece.
The U.S. next faces China PR June 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Ottawa in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
