02 Accommodations Overview Falling Rock Listing

If you’re looking to get away, you may not have to look very far; three Pennsylvania resorts just ranked among the top 10 in the Mid-Atlantic region on a new list by Travel + Leisure.

Nemacolin in Farmington, Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford and the Hotel Hershey in Hershey came in at No. 4, 6 and 9, respectively. The inaugural list, is part of the magazine’s “World’s Best Awards,” compiled through a survey that was open for voting Jan. 11 through May 10, 2021.

Survey rules allowed readers to reflect on their travel experiences over a three-year period, according to Travel + Leisure’s website.

Travel + Leisure reported that Nemacolin earned plaudits for its “spectacular amenities, including multiple restaurants, experiences like bowling and paintball, a golf course — even wildlife habitats.”

One voter wrote of Omni Bedford Springs Resort, “Outstanding historical inn and lovely setting!” Another appreciated how the check-in team at Hotel Hershey greeted her with the phrase, “Have a sweet stay.” (The hotel is known for its Chocolate Spa, which currently boasts a seasonal pumpkin-inspired package.)

The survey also found that across the board, travelers opted for locations that were spacious with ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, reflecting the impact of COVID-19 and ongoing social-distancing measures. Many pandemic-era travelers favored road trips over airline destinations, too, making the Mid-Atlantic region a popular target due to its versatility and accessibility from most of the Eastern Seaboard.

The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, N.J., topped the list at No. 1, earning praise for its Turkish hammam offerings and lavish two-story Salt Spa. It was followed by Congress Hall in Cape May, N.J., at No. 2; Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Md., at No. 3; then Nemacolin at No. 4; Bungalow in Long Branch, N.J., at No. 5; Omni Bedford Springs Resort at No. 6; The Asbury in Asbury Park, N.J., at No. 7; Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Cambridge, Md., at No. 8; the Hotel Hershey at No. 9; and finally, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., at No. 10.
