This Kind of Camping Offers Unique, Luxury Experience
Glamorous Glamping is only an hour’s drive away with this new mobile hospitality concept.
For the month of October, those looking to get away from the bustle of the ‘Burgh can book a Hideaway Co. glamping tent at the Barn at Maple Falls in Rockwood, just over an hour drive from the city.
Anna Baird, former senior sales and marketing manager for the Ace Hotel in East Liberty, founded Hideaway Co. after casual conversations with friends — now business partners — during the job lull in the hospitality and food industry due to COVID-19.
“These are really talented, amazing people and we need to get the cobwebs off,” Baird says.
The mobile hospitality concept consists of Baird’s colleagues: Chef Beth Zozula, a James Beard-nominated chef who leads the kitchen at Whitfield at the Ace Hotel; Food and Beverage Director Michael Goldberg and Libations Curator Molly Aura.
The glamping experience includes a stay in a two-person safari tent with a bed, fresh linens, a seating area, a potbelly stove and rechargeable lanterns. For a Friday to Sunday stay, $3,000 gets you a double-occupancy tent and $1,800 for a single.
Although the price might make some balk, you’re not just getting a stay in a tent, according to Baird.
“What we offer is this really unique, curated experience,” she says.
Weekend packages also include a Friday welcome reception and dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner; Sunday brunch; and yoga and mindfulness sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings. A la carte amenities include full bar services, excursions to surrounding experiences and attractions, culinary add-ons, and massage therapy services. Even Fido can come along — there’s a $50 fee per pet.
Corporate and group rentals are also available.
In a world filled with constant Zoom calls, Baird says more people are looking to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature.
“To marry the idea of comfort and luxury in a safe outdoor setting is really appealing to a lot of people,” she says.
