Treadmill not doing it for you any more? Spent all the time you possibly could on the elliptical? Shudder whenever the word “Stairmaster” is uttered? Hybrid Athlete, a new training facility in Moon Township, may be the answer to your fitness fatigue. The 11,000-square-foot facility, opened February 2011 by brothers Joe (a Seton Hill grad) and Anthony Vennare (a former U.S. Marine), follows the CrossFit training method, emphasizing overall fitness and physical ability instead of the jogging and lifting you’re used to.

Hour-long “Hybrid Boot Camp” classes are led by coaches and offered daily. Sessions incorporate gymnastic rings, medicine balls, Olympic-style lifting and sessions with the Kettlebell—a hefty metal weight that improves cardiovascular health and flexibility along with strength—and much more. Nervous about trading hand weights for a swinging metal sphere? Don’t be: Hybrid Athlete puts safety first, coaches all classes personally and tailors workouts to your fitness level—from couch potato to ironman.
