Take a Sip and Celebrate 135 Years of Punxsutawney Phil
Wigle Whiskey and Threadbare Cider announce new products in honor of Pennsylvania’s famous groundhog.
You can’t make a pilgrimage to Punxsutawney this year to celebrate Groundhog Day on Feb. 2 because of COVID-19 restrictions, but you can spend some time with the world’s most famous groundhog anyway.
Customers who buy a bottle of Phil’s Shadow Maple Barrel Finished Whiskey or Phil’s Burrow Rum Raisin Cider from Wigle Whiskey and Threadbare Cider will receive a link for an exclusive meet and greet with Punxsutawney Phil himself on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m.
This is the 135th year that Punxsutawney Phil has been called on to forecast whether or not we will have an early spring based on seeing his shadow.
The whiskey is $38, while the cider is $18. Both can be ordered online, at the bottle shop in Ross Park Mall or at Wigle Whiskey Distillery in the Strip District and Threadbare Cider House on the Northside. For an additional $35, Threadbare will provide a take-out meal to pair with the Phil’s Burrow cider: Rum BBQ Chicken Pizza and two slices of Rum Raisin Cake.
