Symphony Splendor Holiday House Tour Heads North for the First Time
Featuring lavishly bedecked and beribboned houses, this year’s tour takes place in Pine’s Lake MacLeod community.
For the first time ever, the annual Symphony Splendor Holiday House Tour is taking its gilded decorations north of Pittsburgh.
Benefitting the Pittsburgh Symphony Association, this year’s tour — which is co-chaired by Ruth Ann Pritchard and Sue Breedlove — will feature five palatial homes decked out for the holidays in Pine’s exclusive Lake MacLeod neighborhood.
While last year’s “Christmas on Broadway”-themed tour took place in Shadyside, the event, now in its 11th year, has also been held in Mt. Lebanon and Upper St. Clair. Because this year’s co-chairs both live in the North Hills, they suggested hosting the tour there for 2025.
As befits a fundraiser celebrating the local arts, PSO musicians, as well as the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, will be entertaining audiences with live music in each home. There also will be vendors selling holiday gifts at the nearby Treesdale Community Center.
Included on the tour this year is an expansive, 12,500-square-foot, seven-bedroom, white brick home with an indoor basketball court and an elaborate waterfall in the backyard. Another home features an indoor swimming pool. Found near the beginning of the neighborhood, another home on the tour was Pittsburgh Magazine’s Home of the Year in the “New Construction” category for 2013.
Built in a Tuscan style to remind the original homeowners of their honeymoon in Italy, the four-story abode, like the other homes on the tour, overlooks the community’s 10-acre lake.
There is also a walking trail surrounding the water, a neighborhood park, picnic areas, a boathouse and separate fishing and swimming piers.
The self-guided driving tours take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. Tickets are $50 in advance or, if available, $60 on the day of the tour.
Program books with a tour map of addresses will be issued to ticket holders and same-day buyers at registration. For tickets, visit here or call 412-392-3303.
