Summer Fashion: Easy Does It

This season, a simple yet elegant wardrobe will keep you cool while making your style hot. Join us for our summer fashion shoot at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.

There’s no season better than summer for the stylish to affirm the sage advice of Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga: “Elegance is elimination.” Summer’s heat and humidity are good reasons to change over to a pared-down wardrobe. But just because one may wear less doesn’t mean clothing choices matter any less. This season, women’s fashion is about combining soft, textured pieces to create easy, eclectic ensembles. Pale neutrals simplify combinations, and layering lightweight pieces builds looks that are casual yet charming, effortless yet elegant.

The Venue: Pittsburgh Botanic Garden in Oakdale is located 10 miles west of Downtown Pittsburgh. The nonprofit conservation, research and special-event facility sits on 460 acres of abandoned mining land. The Woodlands — the first 60 acres to be developed, with three miles of groomed trails running through woodlands and meadows — opened to the public in August 2014. The site aims to become one of America’s largest botanic gardens and is the only one in the United States built on reclaimed land.
