Steeler Safety's Pump Up Penguins Videos Are Must See
Ross Ventrone's hilarious videos are proof that he's an avid Pens fan (and that he should keep his day job).
During the NFL offseason, many players spend their time on the golf course. Steelers safety Ross Ventrone, a Pittsburgh native, likes to use his spare time creating videos to stir up excitement for the Pittsburgh Penguins' run for the Stanley Cup.
Ventrone began making his short films, posted to his Instagram account, just before Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He took to roller blades for his first video and what he lacked (ahem) in hockey skills were made up by his enthusiasm.
According to Fox Sports, this type of motivational movie-making is nothing new to Ventrone. He also made similar short videos for his alma mater, Villanova, during the school's men's basketball championship season last spring.
#HighPraise: Wayne Gretzky Says Sidney Crosby Is Playing on a “Different Level”
Sidney Crosby has yet to score a goal in the Stanley Cup Final series against San Jose, but that's of little consequence to NHL great Wayne Gretzky, who calls Crosby the best player in the game right now.
“What Sid has is a little bit of an extra gear as far as his passing ability, his playmaking ability, the ability to make players around him on his team that much better,” Gretzky told Sportsnet. “Guys like Bobby Orr did it and Mario (Lemieux) did it and obviously Crosby’s doing it. He’s just making his team better.”
Gretzky says Crosby is playing right now at a “different level.”
“I watch him play a lot because I admire the way he plays,” Gretzky said. “It’s not a big secret: I think he’s the best player in the game. He just sees the game the right way, he always has.”
High praise indeed from someone who knows a thing or two about great hockey players.
