Before opening The ScareHouse in 1999, Baldwin native Scott Simmons (pictured) volunteered at seasonal spook houses in his free time. He even met his wife, ScareHouse co-owner Barb, working on a bygone haunt. Along with Scott’s father, Wayne, and a crew of dedicated part-time ghouls, the couple works year-round on the award-winning attraction.
“We want to change people’s expectations of what a haunted house can be,” Scott says. “You’re able to create this whole immersive environment.”
