How do you judge where is a good place to set down roots? Part of the answer depends on an individual’s personal situation. A neighborhood that’s great for a young family might not be ideal for a millennial who has just landed his or her first job.

The folks at Pittsburgh-based Niche are in the business of helping “you find the neighborhood that’s right for you.”

With that goal in mind, Niche ranked 4,875 suburbs in the U.S. based on more than a dozen criteria ranging from the cost of living to the crime rate to the weather.
