Shop Handmade Goods (and Groove to Music) with the Summer Artisan Market
The monthly outdoor event takes place at McCandless Crossing in the North Hills.
Music and shopping meet this weekend with the kickoff of the monthly Summer Artisan Markets at the McCandless Crossing retail and lifestyle complex located off McKnight Road in McCandless.
Featuring handmade gifts by local artisans, the outdoor market takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday under the big tent on the Town Green. Handcrafted items for sale include everything from ceramics, jewelry and accessories to watercolors, glassware and sculptures.
Regional musician Shannon Jones also is slated to perform folk covers and original tunes from noon to 2 p.m.
Held the third Saturday of each month, the next markets take place Aug. 20 and Sept. 17. While Jones will perform at the July and September events, Sloane Simon, an award-winning songwriter who appeared on ABC’s “American Idol,” will perform for the crowds on Aug. 20.
Summer campers from Perform Pittsburgh, a contemporary music and theater company, also will perform from 2 to 3 p.m. at the August and September markets, while Northland Public Library will offer programming for kids at all three events.
“We’re excited for our summer artisan markets at McCandless Crossing, and we invite the community to come out and support our local artisans and enjoy everything McCandless Crossing has to offer,” says Kevin Dougherty, president of AdVenture Development, which manages and developed McCandless Crossing
