She Does It Again – Ellen Surprises Pittsburgh Firefighter with ALS

It’s the second time the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has featured Matthew Onyshko and his family. You might need a hankie for this one.

Since his diagnosis, Matthew Onyshko's fellow city firefighters have been covering his shifts so that his family can continue to receive a paycheck and benefits.

Onyshko blames the disease on concussions he suffered while playing five years of football at California University of Pennsylvania. In December 2013, he filed a federal lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association claiming the organization knew but did not warn him about the long-term effects of repeated concussions.
