Erik Cavanaugh is not a typical-looking ballet dancer. Shaped more like a linebacker, Cavanaugh has posted on his Instagram account that he's “attempting to change the mind and shape of dancers.”

Videos of Cavanaugh's solo, often improvised performances have gone viral. He's been interviewed by Forbes Magazine, the Huffington Post and People Magazine, just to name a few.

Just last week, he auditioned for NBC's “America's Got Talent.” Although he failed to advance to the live shows which begin this week, he's still looking ahead.

“I’m not going to harp on the past. .. I have had a lot of amazing adventures in the past few months, and this is only the beginning,” he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Cavanaugh, 23, from Beechview, is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and has been studying dance for about six years. He admits that not moving on to the “America's Got Talent” live shows was a disappointment, but: “I’ve heard everything works out in the end, and if it hasn’t worked out, then it’s not the end.”
