See How Pittsburghers Used to Get Around

This rare video gives you a passenger's perspective of street car trolley travel in the 1960s.

 

For almost a century, trolley cars were the predominant mode of mass transit in Pittsburgh and its surrounding suburbs.  This video was shot in 1965 as the transition from rail to bus routes was underway. Gone, but not forgotten, trolley cars are preserved at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, Pa. and the Sen. John Heinz History Center in the Strip District.
