Ever been in the mood for a hot dog with a side of satire? Well, TBS’s “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” is serving up the perfect combination of pork, pop culture and politics.
The late-night comedy news show stopped by the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in Vanport, Beaver County on Wednesday. Surrounded by unphased and unsuspecting customers, host Samantha Bee – a Canadian comedian best known for being a correspondent on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” – sat down for breakfast with state Rep. Jim Christiana.
The unique location was chosen by Bee’s producers after a phone call with Christiana in which he explained the local significance of the Hot Dog Shoppe.
“They were able to accommodate us space-wise, but also everyone seems to come here. This is the place where everyone gravitates. So that’s the strong local pulse where we wanted to be,” Bee told the Beaver County Times.
Over the course of a 40-minute interview – and pancakes – Christiana and Bee discussed the upcoming presidential election and the effects it may have on local races like his own. The 33-year-old Republican is seeking his fifth term.
Christiana’s interview with Bee will air at 10:30 p.m. on July 20 on TBS.
