Recycled Paper Never Looked So Good
Whether you’re looking for an original illustration, a cute note card to send a friend or a unique notebook to keep track of your thoughts, Little Alexander’s paper goods offer beautiful locally made options.
Sometimes all that’s needed to feel a little more productive are materials that are pleasing to the eye. Little Alexander, an online business based in Bloomfield, delivers this and much more. From serene sketches of trees and wildlife to quirky drawings of dinosaurs and vintage radios, you’re bound to find something that fits your niche.
They’re not just nice to look at; the paper goods are also friendly to the environment. The company’s notebooks, note cards, stationery and art prints are created from 100 percent recycled or reclaimed materials — even the minimal packaging materials are recycled and recyclable.
The company, which relocated to Pittsburgh in August, is owned and operated by Kate and Anne Alesandrini — perhaps better known as their business persona, “K + A.” The pair began the endeavor in 2010, when they both quit their jobs and were in the process of relocating to Iowa from Seattle.
Products are made in their home studio, where they use an etching press, antique book press, a digital home printer and a stack cutter. Kate, the driving force behind the artwork, creates the designs that adorn the products.
“I really like drawing and printing and playing with different media and trying out different styles,” she says. “Little Alexander gives me the space to play with my art and present it in a functional format — notebooks, stationery, stickers.”
Anne then folds the paper, stitches the binding and brings the products to their finished state.
Their paper goods can be purchased from their Etsy shop, which boasts a five-star rating after more than 800 reviews.
