Thomas Garris and Elizabeth Garris; Christopher Rogers and Paula Herring
Dennis Inserra officiated at the ceremony at Calvary United Methodist Church (954 Beech Ave., North Side; 412/231-2007, calvarymethodistpittsburgh.org).
Rachel and Craig planned a reception that integrated lots of elements of urban Pittsburgh. The site, the Renaissance Hotel (107 Sixth St., downtown; 412/562-1200, marriott.com), allowed guests to spent the evening gazing out of tall glass windows and savoring the sights of Pittsburgh, including fireworks from PNC Park. In addition to the traditional cookie table, guests enjoyed a menu that included a raw-seafood bar and a flambé station serving up bananas Foster. The bar served signature drinks, including a peach/pineapple cocktail that Rachel created herself. She also created a guide to the city for out-of-town guests, who took the opportunity to explore everything from Primanti Brothers to Pirates games before and after the wedding.
Purple and blue flowers, with accents of white, colored the ceremony and reception. Rachel’s bouquet featured three dozen roses, created by Allison Park Flowers (3880 William Flynn Highway, Hampton Township; 412/487-7673, allisonparkflowers.com).
Dianne Adrian (2019 Oak St., Jefferson Hills; 412/384-3890, adrianphoto.net).
On the bride
Rachel wore a strapless gown in satin and lace with a full bustled skirt and lace-up closure from Bridal Beginning (450 Cochran Road, Mount Lebanon; 412/343-6677, bridalbeginning.com).
On the groom
The men looked sharp in tuxes from the Men’s Wearhouse (multiple locations; 877/986-9669, menswearhouse.com).
Brown ribbons and fondant covered a three-tiered cake from Bethel Bakery (5200 Brightwood Road, Bethel Park; bethelbakery.com, 412/835-6658). Layers were filled with cookies and cream and mango fillings for a delectable dessert.
DJ Alan Karelitz (ABK Productions; 724/733-4923, pittdj.com) provided an evening to remember for the couple and their guests.
