Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, it’s hard to turn on the radio these days without hearing pop sensation Daya’s catchy single, “Sit Still Look Pretty” — and more Daya is on the way.
The 17-year-old Mt. Lebanon native recently announced her first-ever headline tour early next year ahead of the release of her debut album, “Sit Still, Look Pretty," which hits shelves Oct. 7 on the Artbeatz label.
The tour kicks off Feb. 18 in Philadelphia. The pop star, who broke out in 2015 with the platinum-certified ear worm “Hide Away,” will bring her show to more than 25 cities across the country — including New York City, Atlanta and Los Angeles — before concluding March 30 at Stage AE in Pittsburgh.
“I’ve been waiting for my first headline tour ever since releasing ‘Hide Away’ last spring! It’s going to be incredible,” Daya says in a statement. “I’m so excited to design it from scratch with my team – all the lighting, production, merch, sound, and everything else that goes into a tour.”
The announcement caps off a banner year for the singing sensation. Besides the success of the electropop "Hide Away" and "Sit Still, Look Pretty," Daya sang on The Chainsmokers' hit "Don't Let Me Down." She recently performed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars and has played live shows across the country, including a set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival’s Daytime Village.
The new album, recorded in Los Angeles and executive produced by Gino "Farrago" Barletta, will be a continuation of her hit 2015 debut EP, Daya, and will include the entire EP alongside eight new tracks.
“I’m definitely looking forward to bringing some new songs from the record to life for the first time," Daya says. "But most importantly, I’m pumped to share more pieces of my artistry with my fans who have supported me from the beginning and have an amazing time with them every night!”
Pre-sale tickets for the tour went on sale Tuesday and venue pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. Thursday with the password “hideaway.” General tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 30.
