Past Steelers Reunite For Debut of Chuck Noll Biography

The event, planned for the Sen. John Heinz History Center, features a cast of Steelers greats who will discuss Noll’s enduring legacy.

Chuck Noll was first to lead an NFL team to four Super Bowls championships, yet for decades he remained one of the most elusive figures in football coaching.

In 2012, Michael MacCambridge began his reporting on what now is a thoroughly detailed biography of the acclaimed former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, set to be released Friday, Oct. 28.

In the October issue of Pittsburgh Magazine, writer Mike Prisuta details MacCambridge’s journey in writing “Chuck Noll: His Life’s Work.” We’ve also included an exclusive excerpt from the chapter “Whatever It Takes.”

To celebrate the book launch, the Sen. John Heinz History Center presents “The Life & Legacy of Chuck Noll,” an event filled with Steelers greats. KDKA-TV host Bob Pompeani will join former players Joe Greene, Rocky Bleier and Tunch Ilkin to discuss Noll’s legacy.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase after the event, and MacCambridge will be present for book signings.

“The Life & Legacy of Chuck Noll” takes place from 1-2:30 p.m. Sun., Oct. 30 at the Heinz History Center. Admission is $20. Register online here.
