The relocation is expected to take more than a year to complete.

Having run out of room for customers and staff, Oakmont Bakery is planning to move out of the borough’s main business district to a new location at Hulton Road, across Third Street from Riverview High School.

“At our current location, we have limited parking,” owner Marc Serrao told the Tribune-Review. “Production bakers and decorators have limited workspace. We aren't able to add equipment. Customers have a difficult time navigating through the retail area at busy times.”

The Serrao family plans to consolidate properties it owns at 308 and 316 Hulton Road. A number of tenants at those locations, including L.A. Tanning, Kelsey's Dance & Fitness, and the ATA Black Belt Academy, will be relocated.

At a recent presentation before the Oakmont planning commission, Serrao said the new bakery will be double in size and include roughly 100 parking spaces.

“We will have an expanded cafe with over twice as much seating,” Serrao told the Trib. “We will have 50 percent more space in our display cases, which will give customers a much larger view of our products. Our production department will be doubled and updated with state-of-the-art equipment.”

Serrao is hoping to begin construction next year.
