New TV Series Gets Red Carpet Treatment at Kennywood

ABC is bringing one of its new fall comedies to Pittsburgh for an exclusive, advanced screening.

Rather than wait until fall to gauge audience reaction, ABC is offering advanced screenings of one of its new shows to a Pittsburgh audience. All this week, the pilot of “The Mayor” (trailer above) will be showing at Kennywood Park.

The comedy follows the story of young rapper Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) who, as a publicity stunt, runs for mayor of his hometown in California. Rose gets more publicity than he counts on when he wins the election. With the help of his mother (Yvette Nicole Brown) and friends, including Valentina (played by “Glee’s” Lea Michele), Courtney tries to transform the struggling city he loves.

Hosted by WTAE Channel 4, patrons will walk the red carpet at Kennywood’s Theater where the pilot episode of “The Mayor” will be shown commercial free. After the show, viewers will get to tell ABC what they thought of it. Screenings are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday.
