Conflict Kitchen
Word spread early last month that Conflict Kitchen would be reopening this month in a Schenley Plaza kiosk. The kitchen (formerly located in East Liberty) will continue to serve staples from a country with which the United States is in conflict. We can’t wait to try their newest offerings (yes, the plan is to serve multiple dishes, not just one).

Vanilla Pastry Studio

Everyone’s favorite cupcake shop will soon have a new home. In the fall, April Gruver, owner of Vanilla Pastry Studio (and self-proclaimed “sugar fairy”), announced she’d be moving the shop to Regent Square. Vanilla will close its doors in East Liberty April 28 to prepare for the move. Expect to find the same pretty, swoon-worthy treats at the new site.

Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week
There’s no denying it: ’Burghers love their beer. It’s even more evident when an annual week is dedicated to all things (local and) hoppy. Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week — a collaboration between breweries, pubs and bottle shops (organized by the Pittsburgh Craft Beer Alliance) — continues to grow. The fun begins with a kickoff event, before participating spots offer tastings, dinners and more. Visit the event website for the full scoop. Cheers!

Isis Cafe
In Brookline, we’re fortunate enough to have Las Palmas, Cannon Coffee — and now Isis Cafe. It’s operated by a clan of native Egyptians with a passion for quality cuisine; the menu lists treats like orzo soup and besara (a starter with beans, herbs and onions). And as noted in our feature, brunch is on the rise locally; this new spot offers up its own take on the meal each Sunday.
