Students arriving in the fall to Slippery Rock University will find new equipment in the Aebersold Student Recreation Center. Twenty-one spin bikes will replace 16 stationary bikes that have been in the ARC for 10 years.
The new bikes will primarily be used for spinning classes and include alterable features and an accommodating fit. They offer students a more intense workout and provide them with a realistic ride experience pulled from topographical information stored in the bike's computer.
"They're very new and sleek bikes with a component of comfort and smooth riding," says Brian Mortimer, coordinator of wellness at the ARC, in a statement.
The ARC also will be opening a new family changing room for the benefit of participants in adaptive physical activity programs offered at the university. The updated facility will provide more space for families, those with special needs and those who assist them, and are furnished with restrooms and full showers.
“The new space will provide users with the ability to comfortably meet their individual needs in a more private facility than before," Mortimer says.
