Need a Truck to Move? There’s an App For That

Whether you’re moving into a new house or just hauling a couch, Truxx is your new buddy with a truck.

Think Uber, but instead of moving people, Truxx moves items too big for you to carry in your own car using vans, pick-ups and trailers.

The service, which just launched in Allegheny County, costs $25 per half hour if you load the truck yourself or $35 per half hour for a truck, driver and help loading and unloading your goods. You can ride along in the truck for an additional dollar per mile.

Available on iOS and Android, the app allows users to create profiles and pre-schedule trips. When scheduling your move, you’ll upload photos and descriptions of what you’re moving and estimates of how long the move will take. Similar to Uber, a notification will be sent to drivers within 30 miles of the location to accept the trip. The earlier you schedule, the better the chances are you’ll book a truck.

Truxx is available anywhere drivers are signed up, with major markets throughout New York and Florida. As of September, the only states out of the loop are Idaho and Wyoming.

You can download the Truxx app from Google Play here or from i-Tunes here.
