National Aviary’s New Garden Room Kicks Off with Brunch
Venue space is designed for private events with room for social distancing.
The National Aviary on the North Side has opened a venue space called the Garden Room, and for a limited time, visitors can enjoy brunch there.
On Sundays until Dec. 13, you can purchase a $55 ticket for brunch at the Aviary at 9:30 or 11:30. It includes general admission, a mimosa, pastries, French toast, a choice of entrée, fresh fruit, and vegetable crudités. Tickets for kids under 12 are $35. The capacity limit at each timed seating is 40 people.
“The completion of The Garden Room is momentous for the National Aviary. Since the funds for the project had been raised prior to the pandemic, the project was able to continue despite what has been a turbulent and unpredictable year,” says Cheryl Tracy, executive director.
The space features wood, stone and glass design elements. One window wall, which looks out to Allegheny Commons Park, can be opened in warmer months onto a patio and green space.
Vitro Architectural Glass, a sponsor of the Garden Room, provided more than 2,000 square feet of bird-friendly glass. Other sustainability features include a stormwater management system and light-refracting skylights that provide natural lighting and heating.
The room is designed to accommodate 200 guests (depending on social distancing guidelines) for weddings, showers, birthday parties and corporate events.
