Lisa C. Porter & John D. Warner
September 23, 2006
William Porter, Karen Porter; Bernie and Suzanne Werner
Lisa and John were married in the historic First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh (159 N. Bellefield Ave., Oakland; 412/621-0500, first-baptist-pittsburgh.org).
Ken Milko of Flowers in the Attic (7505 Saltsburg Road, Penn Hills; 412/798-2200, flowersintheattic.com) paired dark violet hydrangeas imported from Holland with violet, burgundy and Mediterranean blue flowers to create the perfect complement to the all-black palette of the attendants.

ON THE BRIDE
Lisa wore an elegant strapless gown by Lazaro (lazarobridal.com) with hand-beading and embroidered tulle over satin-silk organza. For her own personal touch to the already perfect dress, the bride added Swarovski crystals to the bodice. With the help of dressmaker Ninfa Massey (724/929-4671), Lisa designed her veil with silver edging and more Swarovski crystals.
ON THE GROOM
John was dressed in a nontraditional, monochromatic, black-on-black Ralph Lauren tuxedo from American Commodore Tuxedo (various locations, actux.com).
The reception was held in the sumptous Carnegie Music Foyer (4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland; 412/622-3131, carnegiemuseums.org). Tables were adorned with violet cloths and large, square vases filled with hydrangeas in purples and blues, coordinated with the bridal bouquet and illuminated by votives.
The five-tiered white-chocolate-mousse cake with raspberry filling was baked using Marisa Guenther’s (724/612-2677) secret recipe. The bottom two tiers were square, while the top three were round. All were decorated with violet and burgundy flowers from Flowers in the Attic.
Before the ceremony, friends of the bride, Joy Sakonyi on the piano and soloist Heather Hines Semke, performed show tunes, including "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera. String music for the ceremony was played by the Jennifer Fauvre Trio (booked through Steven Vance Strolling Violins; 724/444-8400). DJ Jason Hitt of Big Day Entertainment (412/566-2900, bigdayentertainment.com) kept guests dancing throughout the reception, playing every song on the newlyweds’ play list including their first dance to "Deliver Me" by Sarah Brightman.
