Ceremony and Reception
Gospel singers and an organist added celebratory music to an orthodox ceremony officiated by Father John Chakos at Holy Cross Church (123 Gilkeson Road, Mt. Lebanon; 412/833-3355, holycrosspgh.org). The couple invited their guests to a reception held in the Carnegie Music Hall Foyer (4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland; 412/622-3131, carnegiemuseums.org). Parkhurst Dining Services (parkhursteventcatering.com; booked through the Carnegie Museum) wowed guests with a menu of filet mignon, sea bass, a raw bar, mini Primanti-inspired sandwiches and more.
Flowers
Design Space used roses, gardenias, hydrangeas, and more in neutral tones to create a stunning bouquet for the bride, and a unique bouquet for each bridesmaid (5746 Baum Blvd., East Liberty; 412/363-2120, designspacepgh.com).
Photographer
Cyndi and Tony Araujo (Araujo Photography; 412/787-2711, araujophoto.com).
Videographer
Nate Sherer (412/829-0266, natesherervideo.com).
Wedding Coordination
Tim Komen (owner of TK Events, 2121 William Penn Highway, Wilkinsburg; 412/606-0600, timk2121@aol.com) helped the couple with everything imaginable, from arranging a candy bar at the reception to making sure the timeline was seamless for the day.
On the Bride
Lara found the dress she’d been dreaming about since she was a little girl at Vera Wang (991 Madison Ave., New York City; 212/628-3400, verawang.com). The tulle and organza gown was the first one she saw.
On the Groom
Michael wore a Hugo Boss tuxedo from his own wardrobe.
Cake
Vanilla Pasty Studio made two cakes: a wedding cake tiered to dizzying heights was flavored with vanilla and berries. The groom’s cake resembled a Primanti’s sandwich. Vanilla Pastry (6014 Penn Circle St., East Liberty; 412/361-2306, vanillapastry.com) also baked and packaged macaroons for guests to take home as a favor.
Music
Lara and Michael booked gospel singers for their ceremony and a quartet for their reception through Entertainment Unlimited (412/343-7700, entertainmentunlimited.com). Tim McCaig (561/743-8445, timmccaig.com) provided music during cocktails, while the Dexter Lake Club Band (917/226-2695, dexterlakeclubband.com) kept the reception lively after dinner.
