Jackie Evancho's New Single ‘Apocalypse’ Has Pop Sound

Richland Township native Jackie Evancho released a new single, straying from her classical sound into the realm of pop for the first time.

With the debut of Jackie Evancho’s newest single comes a new sound from the 16-year-old singer, a native of Richland Township.

Evancho, who first garnered fame on America’s Got Talent when she was 10 years old, has released an EP and five full albums rooted in her classical sound. Her new single, “Apocalypse,” is a power ballad that showcases Evancho’s strong voice, in the tradition of artists like Adele and Celine Dion.

“Apocalypse” is the first song off of Evancho’s latest album, due out later this year. The single was produced by songwriter/producer Peter Zizzo, who’s worked with artists such as Dion and Avril Lavigne, and producer Michael Mangini.

"I'm not going to get rid of my classical voice, because that's my roots, that's what I love the most," Evancho told Billboard. "But I do want to test out the contemporary side of my voice, because I've just discovered that I had it and it's really fun to experiment with.”
