Boaters on the Ohio and Allegheny rivers need to beware — a pirate ship is headed their way.

But these pirates only want to have a good time.

Starting April 8, the uniquely styled boat will be available for private charter rides along the two rivers.

The Jolly Roger can be reserved online for $425 and includes a two-hour informational tour with music and activities for children. Passengers may reserve spots for up to six people and are welcome to bring their own food and drink, including alcohol. Once pandemic restrictions ease, the passenger limit will be raised to 10 or 12 people and there will be food and drink for sale.

The vessel is a Bayliner Rendezvous pontoon boat owned by Evan Weaver, a Navy veteran and Ross Township resident. The Jolly Roger was redesigned by its captain, Dan Corder, an artist and “pirate ship builder” who has worked on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney World in Florida.

While the first days of voyages already are sold out, Corder will be setting sail seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
