Pittsburgh native Leanne Ford is among those who have lost a home in the wildfires still sweeping a destructive path across Los Angeles County in Southern California.

On her Instagram page, the interior designer, who starred with her brother, Steve Ford, on the Pittsburgh-based HGTV shows “Restored by the Fords” and “Home Again with the Fords,” revealed that three weeks after getting the keys to her family’s new place in L.A’s Rustic Canyon neighborhood, it was destroyed by the Palisades fire.

The designer, who shares a daughter with her husband, Buck Mason clothing brand founder Erik Ford, described the residence as a “beautiful historical and quirky artists’ home.”

“We brought over so many of our favorite things to fill it with. It was to be a place to write, to create,” she wrote in the Jan. 11 post, which included photos of the hillside home’s charred remains. “Three days ago we lost it.”

Ford noted she and her family were some of the lucky ones; they also have a home in Sewickley, where Ford and her daughter, Ever, are staying now. She added her husband remains in Los Angeles to be with his team.

“Thankfully, this wasn’t yet our HOME. It was still just a house,” Ford wrote. “So for us, this is not the same tragedy that it has been for so many other families in Los Angeles.”

Ford ended the post by thanking firefighters still fighting the flames. She also asked followers to send her suggestions on how to help those affected by the blazes.

“I’ve been praying hard for “the peace that passes understanding” through this — for everyone,” she wrote. “A true peace that seems to make no sense.”
