If you’re in the mood to explore stunning gardens and ponds — not to mention meet some local artists — then the North Hills is the place to be this weekend.
The Southern Butler County Garden Club tour and the Wexford Garden and Pond Tour both take place Saturday, July 14.
Celebrating its 10th year, the Southern Butler County Garden Club tour, dubbed “Art in Bloom” features several private gardens in Cranberry Township and the surrounding area. Plein Air Artists also will be stationed outdoors at each location to capture the beauty of the gardens on canvas.
Registration takes place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center in Cranberry Township. The self-guided tour is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and participants will be given a booklet with garden descriptions, plus driving directions.
Tickets are $20 when purchased in advance and $25 on the day of the event. Proceeds help benefit local horticultural programs. For more information, visit here.
Now in its second year, the Wexford Garden and Pond Tour takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — and features a little magic.
Among the eight properties, which include raised vegetable gardens, ponds with waterfalls, fish farms — and even live chickens — there will be a few whimsical fairy gardens on display.
Tickets for the self-guided tour are $35. Tickets for the V.I.P Bus Tour cost $90 and include a box lunch from Soergel’s Orchard in Franklin Park. The bus tour departs at 9:30 a.m. from Graeter’s Ice Cream in Wexford Plaza. All of the homes are within a 15-minute drive of Wexford, according to the tour organizers.
Proceeds from the Wexford tour benefit water projects in a drought-ridden area of Kenya. For more information, visit here.
