Happy Birthday, Von Walter & Funk!
The Lawrenceville-based home décor store celebrates its first year in business while Aspinwall readies for its annual holiday open house.
Get ready to party. Von Walter & Funk is hosting a first birthday bash.
The home décor and accents boutique’s “Welcome to the Disco” shindig takes place from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the store in upper Lawrenceville.
The word “disco” is in the event title for a reason. The party will, according to the owners, channel “solid gold and all that glitters and shines…”
Opened one year ago on Butler Street, Von Walter & Funk is owned by Shawn Aversa and Jamie McAdams.
Named after McAdams and Aversa’s respective maternal grandmothers, the boutique specializes in high-quality home, garden, apothecary, papers and vintage wares.
Pictures of Janet Irene Von Walter and Harriet Pauline Funk hang in the store as a tribute to family and as inspiration. Aversa, who quit his full-time job to open the shop, says his grandmother taught him everything he know about design and décor.
Lines carried at the shop include Garnier Thiebaut bed linens and Match Pewter tabletop, as well as niche brands such as Nest Fragrances, Rifle Paper and Faribault Woolen Mills throws and blankets.
