Gotta See: Sidney Crosby Joins NHL Rivals for Unforgettable Sledge Hockey Game

Gatorade unveiled the video as part of a new commercial campaign during the world junior championship.

Sled hockey, or sledge hockey as it’s known outside of the United States, is growing in popularity, as it gives more and more people with disabilities an opportunity to engage in their favorite sport.

It is not an easy way to play hockey and requires incredible upper-body strength and balance.

In Canada, the Cruisers sledge hockey team showed up at the rink one day thinking they’d volunteered for a documentary about their sport for Gatorade.

So imagine the Cruisers’ surprise when Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell, Logan Couture and Ryan Miller walked onto the ice, ready to play.

The NHL stars split into two groups, mixing with the Cruisers. Game highlights were included in Gatorade’s new commercial.

In the match-up between team Crosby and team Giroux, Crosby’s team came out on top, thanks to a late goal by (who else?) Crosby. Check out the highlights here.
