Global Gala Welcomes the World to Pittsburgh

A Pittsburgh native will stage the international event by way of black tie and national dress.

Dr. Shellie Hipsky is a best-selling author, talk-show host, Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame inductee and philanthropist dedicated to inspiring women.

On Saturday, she’ll host guests from all over the world at the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh for the Global Gala, an awards ceremony, celebration and fundraiser for her nonprofit organization, the Global Sisterhood.

Hipsky, of the North Hills, recently founded the Global Sisterhood after women across the world began reaching out to her through her radio show, Empowering Women Radio. Global Sisterhood provides resources and networking opportunities for women, and the gala Saturday is its first.

“How I’m feeling about the event is emotionally delighted, to tell you the truth,” says Hipsky, also a former Robert Morris University professor, the president of Inspiring Lives, LLC, and former host of TV Show “Inspiring Lives with Dr. Shellie.” “We have women coming in from all over the world.

“I want for them to walk away knowing what the Global Sisterhood is all about, knowing how we’re serving the needs of women all around the world and getting them educated and networking and going forward in their lives. I also want them to have a blast.”

The event will feature art installations, dancing, food and a fashion show highlighting models and designs from across the globe. Also on tap is the presentation of the 2016 Inspiring Lives Int’l awards in five categories: Inspiration, balance, empowerment, global sisterhood and inspired organizations.

“There are so many different international pieces being represented,” says Hipsky.
