For Pittsburghers who want to give (while getting back), GIVBAK offers the chance to win prizes through donations to local charities. GIVBAK (givbak.com), a new organization, offers those who donate opportunities to win VIP sports experiences or other prizes — and, of course, see the effects of their donations on hometown efforts.
GIVBAK works like a lottery; donations count as entries. Each person receives 100 entries for a $10 donation, with more entries for larger contributions. The grand prize for the first campaign, which ends Oct. 31: two 50 yard-line tickets for the Thanksgiving weekend matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers, plus a new Steelers jersey, a $500 Visa gift card and more.
The first campaign benefits the Best of the Batch Foundation, which provides educational resources to children in underprivileged communities.
A second campaign is set to begin on Nov. 1, which will offer the winner a chance to play laser tag with current and former Steelers; it again will benefit the Best of the Batch Foundation.
Founders Lisa Mason Eck and Jady Conboy are in the process of speaking with national organizations that can help GIVBAK partner with professional athletes and teams in cities across the U.S., benefiting local charities throughout the country.
