Party at PerLora
PerLora is expanding its footprint in Pittsburgh.
The furniture store, known for its contemporary pieces, is celebrating the opening of PerLora Loft, which is located next door to its longtime business on Pittsburgh’s South Side. PerLora also has a leather showroom in the Strip District.
PerLora Loft, the latest concept from owners Perry and Lora Sigesmund, opened in September and carries modern and contemporary furniture, accessories and lighting evocative of the PerLora brand, but at moderate prices.
“For more than 22 years, PerLora has been at the forefront of the Pittsburgh design community, offering unique furniture and accessories that can’t be found anywhere else in our region,” the owners say in a statement. “We are excited by the new opportunities that PerLora Loft offers us as we help people furnish their homes and businesses. With the opening of our new store, the PerLora brand provides quality furnishings to everyone.”
The grand opening party takes from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the new space. Black Radish is catering the event and the offerings include local craft beers. Pittsburgh DJ Company will provide the music and participants also are invited to register to win a chair from EQ3, a contemporary Canadian brand.
PerLora Loft is located in what was once a vacant building. The owners spent more than a year renovating the space while making sure to incorporate design elements from the original building.
The building’s first floor houses affordable furniture from EQ3. The second floor, originally an apartment, features bedroom, living room and dining room options, including pieces from Stressless YOU, BDI and Innovations Living.

Mark your calendars. Supersized home décor chain At Home opens at 9 a.m. Thursday in Ross Township. A grand opening ribbon cutting with the Pittsburgh Regional Chamber is slated for 9 a.m. Friday.
The opening of the 91,000 square foot store, formerly a Kmart, marks At Home’s fourth location in Pennsylvania. The Texas-based company has more than 100 stores across the country, including a location in Robinson Township.
To celebrate its newest location, At Home is partnering with The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh to collect items for its ReStore, which sells donated home improvement and building materials to the public at a deep discount.
Collections will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds from the sales help place families in affordable shelter.
