Food trucks pop up in various locations throughout the region. But Pittsburgh, unlike cities such as Portland and San Francisco, has never had a permanent location for mobile food vendors. Brothers Tony, Matt and Shawn Lang aim to change that with the Pittsburgh Food Truck Park.
Millvale Riverfront Park, right off the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, will host a daily rotation of trucks pulled from a pool of about 50 Pittsburgh-based vendors. Plus, there will be more than 30 local beers and the park also will serve as as “a performance venue, an event space, and game yard,” according to the food park’s website. The proposed layout includes space for five food trucks, fire pits, an indoor lounge, community boat launch and parking for both cars and bikes.
Millvale currently is a popular destination for food truck roundups and beer fests, so it was a natural fit. The park is still in the planning stage, but the brothers hope it will be up and running by spring.
