Fall Fashion: In the Black

The little black dress, and shirt, and pants, never go out of style. Add mystery to your wardrobe with these easy-to-accent autumn staples.

What’s brewing in women’s fashion this fall?

Cool-weather looks built on a base of black — the universally flattering, all-occasion noncolor that evokes the mysterious place where formality meets mortality. Black is an easy canvas on which to layer more black or accent with white, grey or trending colors such as red and blue. For the daring, pair it with a fresh color that has arrived on the scene (and also comes in a new lipstick inspired by singer Ariana Grande).

The Pantone Color Institute dubbed the milky purple “bodacious,” perhaps as a nod to the stylish ladies who will make the most of autumn’s bold new looks. Find them featured in this shoot at Penn Brewery in Troy Hill.

The Venue: Penn Brewery, located where Deutschtown meets Troy Hill, is Pittsburgh’s largest and oldest brewery. The establishment pays homage to European immigrants with its restaurant cuisine and 30-year tradition of producing high-end craft beers. Housed in the former E&O Brewery built in the mid-1800s, the site features polished wooden benches indoors, a pet patio and a cobblestone biergarten lit for evening enjoyment. A member of Bike Pittsburgh, Penn Brewery is a biker-friendly destination and the first of 13 stops on the Allegheny River Libation Trail. It’s open every day for lunch, dinner and private parties.
