When novelist Thomas Wolfe wrote that you can’t go home again, he definitely wasn’t talking about fashion. Especially not women’s styles this fall, when dominant trends reflect a nostalgic state of mind among American fashion designers.

An Americana vibe pulses through apparel and accessories, fusing vintage inspiration and down-home flavor for an old-is-new-again freshness.

Key looks range from leather pants and jewel-tone velvet to quaint plaids and fringe detail. And everywhere you’ll find domestic-inspired florals that could easily have been cut from couches and curtains — a sure sign that in fashion, you can always go home again.
