Edinboro Increases Focus on International Business
A new option aims to prepare students for careers in fields such as international banking and sales, consulting in foreign trade and international marketing and business analysis.
Edinboro University’s School of Business has added a concentration in International Business to its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program. The new option aims to prepare students for careers in fields such as international banking and sales, consulting in foreign trade and international marketing and business analysis.
“Working with industry professionals in the international arena, we created a program that uniquely meets the needs of global businesses so students understand how business practices differ across borders,” Dr. Scott Miller, dean of the School of Business, says in a statement. The concentration was first available during the fall 2015 semester. Students with a business major cannot declare a concentration until they are entering their junior year, but the university says many students have expressed interest.
Those who enroll in the program will take classes such as Introduction to World Languages and Culture, International Finance, International Marketing and more. But Dr. Miller says this major is not intended solely for students who are interested in careers that deal directly with international transactions.
“It provides a strong foundation for a broad range of careers in management, marketing, finance and economics,” he says.
