Duquesne University’s School of Education earns high-level accreditation
It’s always nice to have someone vouch for you. In the world of higher education, accreditation acts like an open reference letter. Last week Duquesne University’s counselor education program earned the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program accreditation, one of the first programs in Pennsylvania to do so. The rigorously examined accreditation will allow Duquesne graduates to work within U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs facilities.
Waynesburg University to host Boy Scout merit badge camp
The first Boy Scout troop in Greene County, home to Waynesburg University, was created by an alum of the university. Fittingly, the university will hold the second Merit Badge University Oct. 25. From 8 a.m.-5 p.m., scouts will explore a wide range of academics and choose a badge to work toward earning. Thirty badges will be offered, including eight Eagle Scout merits. Registration costs $10 and includes lunch, a T-shirt, a patch and faculty instruction. For more information, call 724/852-7660.
Steelers training camp is open to the public at Saint Vincent University
Saint Vincent has hosted Pittsburgh Steelers training camp for 49 years. If you’re jonesing for some football, head over to Latrobe for the 2:55 p.m. start times.
