Colors of the Spring Fashion Spectrum

Whether in saturated splashes, light brush strokes or interesting accents, color jazzes up everything from suits and dresses to footwear and accessories.

In fashion arithmetic, color is a factor in every equation. It’s the algebraic variable that can exponentially increase the stylishness of any ensemble. Super-luxe textiles and extravagant embellishment may not be in the budget, but everyone can afford color. “Color embraces you,” designer Tracy Reese once said. “It wakes you up and keeps you present.” Women’s wear this spring commands attention in a spectrum of shades, from pale washes of pink and bright pops of green to the rich maroon of Marsala, the Pantone Color Institute’s heralded color of the year. Whether in saturated splashes, light brush strokes or interesting accents, color jazzes up everything from suits and dresses to footwear and accessories. With the plethora of options, choosing what to don can be daunting. Should you struggle with indecision, trust the sage words of the legendary Coco Chanel: “The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you.”
