It’s time to bust out your family and dog-coordinated costumes to parade around in support of a good cause. Consider it your pet-friendly Halloween philanthropic pregame.

On Sunday, Oct. 23, the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania (MGA) invites all dogs (and dog enthusiasts) to unite at South Park to strut in the 8th annual MGA Pooch Parade. This one-mile stroll starts at the South Park dog park and winds through paved trails — bonus perk: it’s stroller safe.

There will be a costume contest, silent auction, gift basket raffles, face painting and loads of Halloween treats.

All proceeds benefit MGA, a private nonprofit organization that offers free support to those suffering from myasthenia gravis, a disorder characterized by chronic autoimmune muscle weakness. MG does not yet have a known cause or cure.

Perks of pre-registering (click here) include a complimentary breakfast courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts and United Dairy, a bag of goodies, a free T-shirt, and a doggy bandana. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the Pooch Parade embarking promptly at 10 a.m.
