Best New Bathroom
The owner of Armina Stone’s modern, European-style master bathroom features marble slabs from Turkey accented by luxurious gold fixtures.
When Emre Basman purchased a new home in Oakmont from Kacin Builders in December 2017, he told them to include everything but the kitchen and the bathrooms. Those were his projects.
Basman, the owner of Armina Stone, did everything but the plumbing for those rooms. His one-of-a-kind, stone-and-marble master bathroom caught the eye of Pittsburgh Magazine’s panel of judges and earned the title of Best New Bathroom for 2019.
The walls, floor and ceiling of the bathroom are covered with 60-inch by 60-inch gray-on-white slabs of Dekton Opera, a handmade, engineered stone by Cosentino. According to Basman, there are almost no companies in the area with the capability to install the slabs, so he had to hire an installation team from Washington, D.C., to join his employees from
Armina Stone, which has showrooms in Cheswick and Robinson.
“It took a long time [to finish],” he says.
Like the walls, the vanity and sinks are one continuous piece of stone. The shower walls are covered in marble slabs from Turkey. There also is a large, luxurious soaking tub with an elevated end for maximum comfort — Basman bought the tub two years ago and says he has been keeping it in his warehouse until it was ready for installation.
Basman went for a European, modern look, choosing the large, light-colored slabs for the statement they make. The bathroom is accented with gold fixtures from Crescent Supply, which Basman says make the room that much more impressive.
“The fixtures are expensive and stylish,” he says.
The home was finished in October 2018, and Basman says he’s very happy with how his vision turned out.
“I turned my dream into reality having the stunning marble look,” he says.
