Audacious Autumn: Fashions for Fall

Fall once again proffers a plethora of trends in womenswear, directional dicta that reflect hope and fantasy.

Writer and naturalist Henry Beston once described autumn as the season when “the leaves fall, the wind blows and the farm country slowly changes from the summer cottons into its winter wools.” As the landscape transitions its wardrobe, so, too, must we.

Fall once again proffers a plethora of trends in womenswear, directional dicta that reflect hope and fantasy. Front and center is what Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman has identified as the first “truly unisex color palette, marked by hues such as stormy weather, reflecting pond, desert sage and dried herb. Moody shades paint pieces for every personal style, from the audacity of short skirts and high waistlines to the retro sophistication of nouveau Victorian to the perennial bravado of borrowed-from-the-boys looks.

It's layering time, with pieces in wool, cashmere, corduroy and denim creating signature silhouettes. Whether genuine or faux, the leather jacket is the pull-together piece, anchoring fully accessorized ensembles."

This autumn's array of options should make it easier for women to heed the words of legendary jeweler Harry Winston: “People will stare. Make it worth their while."

Our Setting

A landmark Pittsburgh institution (and one of Pittsburgh Magazine’s Best Restaurants in 2015), the critically acclaimed Hyeholde Restaurant is nestled in a wooded oasis in Moon Township. An architectural and aesthetic triumph, it was built as a house and eatery in the 1930s by William and Clara Kryskill. Their daughter, Barbara K.S. McKenna, carries on the tradition. The organic flavor of fall’s fashion trends and the rustic elegance of Hyeholde fit like a hand in a LaCrasia.
