All's Fair at Fairmont

Amid the bright lights of downtown's theaters, galleries and restaurants, the Fairmont Pittsburgh prepares for its grand opening this month.

More than just your typical luxury hotel, the Fairmont Pittsburgh has combined premium accommodations and facilities with sustainability and responsible green tourism. The hotel has been developed according to green guidelines, limiting harsh materials and energy consumption during its construction. The Fairmont anticipates it will receive a gold level LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, and with eco-friendly operation practices in place, the hotel plans on keeping this green-minded philosophy rolling far beyond its opening on March 29.

The elegant space will include features such as motion-sensor lights and high-tech heating and ventilation systems, achieving both comfort and conservation. All 165 guest rooms and 20 suites boast floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows, which allow for ample natural light and breathtaking views of the city skyline.

The hotel also features 12,000 square feet of event space and an extensive health club that includes state-of-the-art equipment and spa service treatment rooms. The in-house restaurant, Habitat, can be found on the second floor, and the bar, Andys, is just below. With décor that blends art and industry—where Warhol meets steel, if you will—the atmosphere is both vibrant and comfortable. And while the cuisine is world-inspired, the ingredients are locally sourced. It’s truly eco-friendly elegance at its best.
