The holiday season can be hectic with shopping, baking, wrapping gifts, decorating … it’s stressful just thinking about it. Then there are the parties that won’t stop until New Years Day. Amid the whirlwind, it can be hard for a guy to find time to pamper himself and up his grooming game. But if you can’t justify it for yourself, then do it for the loved ones in your life who have to look at your scraggly beard and unkempt hair.
Michael Beckadic, he goes by Michael B., at House of Handsome Barbershop and Boutique at 2906 W. Liberty Ave. in Dormont can help you not only look good, but to unwind as well with leisurely paced service in an atmosphere in which every detail has been thoughtfully considered. Beckadic says there are more than 50 dozen custom finishes, from furniture to fixtures. “Essentially everything was custom made for the shop,” he says. The music is a carefully curated blend of jazz, swing, big band, and blues.
And then there are the services, which start at an extremely reasonable $45 for a haircut and shampoo that also includes a scalp massage, a neck and shoulder massage, a straight-razor outline, shaving of the neck, eyebrow and facial hair trimming and waxing to remove ear and nose hair. Oh, and oil-infused, steamed towels that kick off the pampering. No wonder it takes 45 minutes — which is just about enough time to forget all your worries.
If you’re feeling like you deserve more, go for the 24-karat or caviar facials and paraffin hand treatments or get a shave, hair coloring and have your shoes shined. There also are gift cards if you want a last-minute gift of pampering.
Call for an appointment 412/207-7891; House of Handsome is open seven days a week.
